About a billion people in the world live and die in stark poverty. The scientific spirit is universal, so one might expect science to prioritize this urgent problem. Yet, global research attention is skewed towards the interests of the rich parts of the world. “10-90″ gives an indication how large the gap is for health research: about 90 percent of research effort is spent in the interests of the richest 10 percent of the global population. This blog will document my progress on the question what can be done about the gap in the field of genomics research.
For me, this way of reporting on a research project is an experiment. So I welcome comments, on the content as well as on the form of this blog.
